Change Makers: Sameer Yasin started Green Kingdom to help people hurt by climate changeWONKedition's interview series Change Makers spotlights Gen Zers that are taking action to change the world.
Who are you?
My name is Sameer Yasin. I’m 14 years old and live in Nagpur, India. I’m a climate activist, IT-developer and high school student.
What kind of change are you working for?
I founded Green Kingdom. It’s a youth-led organization to act on climate change that’s affecting young people around the world. We want to preserve the environment and help others.
Why did you start working for that?
Growing up in my city I used to see the Ganges River was so polluted. I was affected by it an when I was 8 years old I decided to do something about it. That’s when I started my activism.
Where do you see yourself and your work one year from now?
One year from now I want Green Kingdom to be larger and more known. I want it to be a big movement. I want it to be a larger international organization helping people affected by the climate crisis. I want to find new ideas to help others and preserve the environment around us. I also want to get the chance to speak at the UN.
