Change Makers: William Teasley started WillTech to protect against Covid-19 and solve problems through engineering
WONKedition's interview series Change Makers showcases the Gen Z stars taking action to change the world.
Who are you?
My name is William Teasley, and I am 18 years old. I live in Indiana, USA, and I am the founder of WillTech, Inc.
WillTech is a company founded to help others amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Using advanced “rapid fire” 3D printing technology that I developed, we 3D print face shields at a high volume and sell them at a low price. WillTech also uses a portion of the profits to donate face shields to essential workers in need.
Why did you start WillTech?
I started WillTech originally to help people acquire face shields in the midst of the PPE shortage due to COVID-19. As the supply of PPE decreased, the prices of face shields skyrocketed. WillTech aims to help make face shields available to people across the nation at low prices.
Where do you see yourself and WillTech one year from now?
Assuming the need for face shields won’t last forever (hopefully), WillTech will continue to stay true to its mission statement, which is “solving humanity’s problems through engineering.” In one year, WillTech will be searching for its next problem that it can tackle through engineering.
