Change Makers: Teens Shreyaa and Esha started NEST4US to change the world through kindness
WONKedition's interview series Change Makers showcases Gen Z stars taking action to change the world.
Who are you?
We, Shreyaa Venkat, 18, and Esha Venkat, 15, are the co-founders of NEST4US. Shreyaa is
a freshman at Georgetown University majoring in Global Health Studies and Esha is a
sophomore at Broad Run High School. We are from Virginia, USA.
What’s NEST4US?
NEST4US is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to provide volunteer solutions to the
community to make the world better through kindness. Our goal is to empower the next
generation of compassionate youth to integrate kindness, generosity, and social good into
their routine.
Why did you start NEST4US?
Initially, we noticed three key issues in our community that we wanted to tackle—food
insecurity, the lack of volunteering with a passion, and diversity and inclusion. That’s the
reason why we formed NEST4US as a platform for giving back to the community in a
multitude of ways. Through five core programs, our team of 1,000+ volunteers has
contributed over 450,000 dollars in value of volunteer hours!
Where do you see yourself and NEST4US one year from now?
As we continue to expand, we hope to partner with more corporate businesses and
organizations for global outreach, as well as with major grocery store chains to further
reduce the negative ecological impact of food waste and turn what is considered useless to
these companies into consistent meals for those who live hungry. Our overall long term
vision is to spark global change by nourishing the community, inspiring the world, and
touching lives and hearts wherever we go.
